Kansas occupied my journey for the better part of 400 miles. It is the land of granaries, power generating windmills, and surprisingly, oil wells (or are these deep well pumps?).

While the day was mostly overcast and threatened to rain on my parade, I did see some blue sky.

Denver and the Rocky Mountains were a welcome sight after riding for close to 550 miles.
I arrived at my hotel just North of Denver around supper time. By the time I'd stowed my baggage Rich Else (my friend and coworker from my days of employment with AT&T) showed up with some tools that I used to adjust my highway pegs. Then we went to supper.
It was a delightful evening but I'm quite tired. I think that I got about 3 hours sleep last night and I put 571 miles on the Gold Wing today to get to Denver. So I will apologize and call it a night.
It is less than 400 miles to Moab, Utah tomorrow.
P.S. Thanks for the comments. It is so nice to feel the warmth of family and friends.
Hi good to see you are safe & sound, what is a hwy peg?
ReplyDeleteSorry I missed you last night. I fell asleep on the couch waiting for my dial-up connection. Didn't wake up till 3 this morning and saw your IM at that time. Have a good short ride to Moab. Love, WSM
ReplyDeleteTony - A highway peg is a footrest that is mounted to the forward part of the bike that you can use to stretch your legs out while riding.
ReplyDeleteOr on my bike, the pegs are used to attach either sides of a rain tarp for riding - HA!
ReplyDeleteHave a great ride today!
Love, Keith
In my "mind's eye" I,ve been your wingman all the journey. Can't say how often I've tracked you, but always with a prayer for your enjoyment and your safety. What a story to tell!!!

It was great to see you and Rich this morning. Post some pictures of that new snow in the mountains. I'll be watching your progress and praying for your safety. God bless you. Dennis
ReplyDeleteHokie Neighbor you gave up two wheeling too soon. I'd have loved to have you along on this ride! And prayers are always appreciated!
ReplyDeleteAnd as for you Dennis ... Get back to work! :-)
Seriously, I am so glad that you came over to Perkins this morning. I had specifically asked Dean to invite you. I'll post a few pictures but didn't ger a great one of the snow itself. That was just a little higher than I70. And as I told Hokie Neighbor, I appreciate all the prayers I can get as I believe that it does make a difference!
