I received the replacement GPS and it DID NOT fix the problem. (Bummer)
After a couple of phone calls with Garmin and various voltage measurements, I have a replacement mount coming Monday or Tuesday of next week. At this time, I don't know if the trip is delayed or canceled. More to follow on that.
One good thing to come out of this is that I've added a small multimeter to my tool kit. Now I can at least check for 12 volts and continuity while away from home.

Craig,
ReplyDeleteWe've been watching your blog with interest and disappointment for you - I hope the voltage gets fixed and you get to make the journey - it looked like so much fun - I'd love to go to Alaska someday but I'll probably choose a plane or a boat.

Thanks Greg.
ReplyDeleteI hope to get restarted this coming Thursday. I'd have liked to have gone using the 5th wheel trailer with Milly but that was a no-go! So hopefully I'm off on my trip solo in a couple of days.
Hope all is well with you and yours!
